North Wales Cross Country at Llandudno.
Telford AC had a large mens team on duty at the second North Wales Cross Country League race of the season over a tough 2 lap course at a new venue, St David's College, Llandudno. The Telford AC turn out masterminded by team manager Jamie Davies, included 3 father and son partnerships from the Garmson, McDonald and Tatton families.
Dan Young made his cross country debut for the club and led the team home in 12th, 31.17 out of a field of 166 finishers, behind the race winner Rob Samuels from Eryri, in 28.44. Following up his impressive run in the recent Breidden Hills Race Dan was running his first cross country race since primary school. Ryan Heath had another impressive run as the second finisher and 4th under 20 in 18th, 31.38. Sam Garmson improved on his first league race depsite their being more runners finishing 27th and 6th under 20 in 33.14. His dad John was the next club finisher, 9 places higher than at Bangor, in 33rd, 33.40 and the second over 45. It was terrific to have Ben McDonald back and he was delighted to finish 44th, 34.17 his first race finish for some 5 years. Steve Jones, club treasurer, was the 6th scorer in 56th and second over 50 in 34.46.

The team finished 3rd in Division 1 on the day with 190 pts, just 5 points behind 2nd placed Meirionnydd based in Dolgellau, much better than compared to the 271 pts at the opening fixture at Bangor and are 3rd overall after 2 races. The vets team were 4th on the day but just 5 points behind leaders Shrewsbury AC and are 4th overall.

The next race is at Deeside AC, Glyndwr University, Northop, Nr Chester CH7 6AA on Saturday 12th November. This race clashes with the first Birmingham League and Midland Womens League at Leamington. We will need as many runners as possible to be able to field teams at both venues.
