To TAC Athletes & Parents

LETTER TO PARENTS AND ATHLETES OF TELFORD ATHLETIC CLUB

TRACK AND FIELD FIXTURES 2014

I am writing to let you know about the work that your club committee has been doing in the last few months regarding the different leagues that the Club should be competing in, and the resulting outcome.
As most of you will be aware last season saw the setting up of a new Youth development League which was divided into  two teams, namely Lower age(U13 and U15) and upper Age(U17 and U20). However this resulted in our teams being placed in the wrong divisions and despite the Club’s appeal this remained unchanged, and involved our athletes travelling down into Somerset and South Wales.. At the end of the season the club requested that the teams be moved divisions for the 2014 season. This was again ignored.
As a result of this the Club made an application to join the Heart of England league, which was accepted, this is a league that caters from U11 to U17 age groups and will involve less travelling.

The club then resigned from the Lower Age group of the Youth Development league. It was decided that we stay with the Upper Age group as this provides competition for the U20 age group, which the heart of England league does not. Following the receipt of our resignation the Youth development league secretary stated that we could move to our preferred division!!!!!! Which was Midland East 1 with fixtures at Leicester,Stoke, Sutton Coldfield and Radley. WE HAVE ACCEPTED THIS SWITCH.
The Club then asked to switch divisions for the Upper Age Group, but we were informed that if we competed in our original division for this coming season, we could change divisions next season(2015). THIS WE ACCEPTED.

Because the Heart of England League had accepted the Club into its League, the committee felt it would be unfair and impolite to now inform them that we were no longer interested in joining their league. So it was decided THAT FOR THIS SEASON WE WOULD COMPETE IN BOTH LEAGUES.

To summarise the Club will be competing in
National Youth Development League- Lower Age Group(U13 and U15)  Midland East 1
National Youth Development League- Upper Age Group(U17 and U20) Midland West1
Heart  of England League (U11,U13,U15,U17) Division 4

The fixture dates are now on the Telford AC web site or are in the cabin down at the track.
